Planets of the Solar System

Year 5 have been learning about space this half term and have been discovering information about the planets and dwarf planets of the Solar System.  Can any of you find out interesting facts, details and information about these?

  1. Hi April. Pluto was discovered in 1930 and was regarded as the Solar System’s ninth planet until its reclassification as a dwarf planet in 2005. This was due to astronomers discovering Pluto-sized objects (including some such as Eris which are bigger) in the outer reaches past Neptune. They either had to classify these objects as lots of new planets or make Pluto a dwarf planet.
